First Real Gig

Date:   Saturday, October 30, 2004

Place: The Bomb Shelter, Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Technically speaking this was Sigma's second gig.  However, the first one was so hurriedly put together at such short notice when they were not fully prepared for it, that it was all but inevitable that a few things went wrong.

The one good thing that came out of it was the invitation to play this gig.

Sue and I bought a couple of tickets to support the cause and felt very self-conscious as we were more than twice the age of most of the other people there.  Carl and Stacy showed up too.

Carl gave us some earplugs but I was able to make it through the event without having to use them.  My ears didn't bleed too much although they were ringing for quite a while afterwards.  They were loud

.

Sigma were the first band on and played the longest set at 45 minutes, performing many songs that they had written and arranged themselves.

Learning from their previous experience, they worked very hard to get it right this time and they pulled it off.  They even had band T-shirts for sale and were giving away demo CDs of their music.

Not that I am in any way biased J but I thought they were really very good.  They are all extremely talented individuals.

From where I was standing it looked like the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the show too. That's always a good sign.

The management of this illustrious establishment was also very impressed and has invited them to come back and play again.

I took along my camera, snapped some photos and captured a few video clips too, which I have put on this page to commemorate this momentous occasion.

Enjoy!

Taking photos in the dim light with the band leaping about all over the place was tough with my camera but I got some stuff.  Click on the photos to view them full size:

I took a few short videos as well.  They are quite large and may take some time to download if you are using a dial-up connection.  The sound quality from my camera's puny microphone is terrible but the videos still manage to convey the excitement of the moment.  They sounded much better than this live.
